       Radial Keratotomy

What is RK?

RK or Radial Keratotomy is a procedure in which the front of your eye, the cornea, is reshaped so that you can see more clearly without glasses or contacts.

What Happens in RK?

In RK, first your eyes are anesthetized with drops. Then the doctor uses a tiny diamond instrument to make microscopic incisions on your cornea. These incisions reshape the surface of your eye for better distance vision.

Is there Any Pain?

Rarely. After the procedure, you will be given a regimen of drops to follow for a few weeks to help manage this. You will also be wearing a guard. Finally, you will return for several post-operative visits.

How Long Until I See Clearly?

Because the very surface of your eye has been operated on, it may take anywhere from a couple days to serveral weeks before you achieve your final vision correction as your eye heals.
